Due to a back ailment, Zimbabwe’s fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani will not play in the forthcoming T20I tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
A vital member of Zimbabwe’s bowling attack, the 29-year-old pacer will miss the entire series as he recovers.
Newman Nyamhuri, a left-arm seamer who has not yet made his T20I debut, has been selected to fill in for him. Other than that, the selectors kept the same team from Zimbabwe’s recent 0–3 loss to Afghanistan in the home T20I series.
Prior to being hampered by the injury, the right-arm pacer, who had missed the last two Twenty20 Internationals in that series, took 2 for 41 in the opening game. Given his background and aptitude for creating movement and bounce on subcontinental pitches, his loss will be a significant blow to Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Nyamhuri adds a dash of freshness. Since making his debut for Zimbabwe in December 2024, the 19-year-old has played in four Test matches and four ODIs. He did not play in either of Zimbabwe’s T20I matches during the tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand in July, despite being a member of the team.
Zimbabwe, under the leadership of Sikandar Raza, will play their first match of the tri-series against the hosts, Pakistan, at Rawalpindi on November 17. On November 19, they will play their second match against Sri Lanka at the same location.
After that, the teams will go to Lahore, where Zimbabwe will play Sri Lanka on November 25 and Pakistan once more on November 23. On November 29, which is also planned to take place in Lahore, the top two teams from the group stage will move on to the final.
