Former cricketer Muttiah Muralidaran of Sri Lanka spoke out about their performance in the major competition, pointing out the subpar effort.

Muttiah Muralidaran even declared that this was Sri Lanka’s lowest-ever World Cup performance. He attributed the terrible performance to the players’ lack of dedication.

The International Cricket Council, or ICC, temporarily barred SLC from participating in any ICC events, and Muralitharan turned to President Ranil Wickremesinghe for assistance in settling the dispute.
