The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman a no-objection certificate to compete in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, Rahman involvement with the Delhi Capitals will only be allowed during the IPL league stage; the BCB has only given him permission to play on May 18–24.
On May 17 and 19, the Bangladeshi side will play two Twenty20 Internationals against the United Arab Emirates at Sharjah. The board anticipates Rahman will return to the national squad by the time Bangladesh departs for Pakistan to play a five-match Twenty20 International series, which starts on May 25.
Before joining the DC squad, Mustafizur will be eligible for Bangladesh’s opening game.
“As per the decision of BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his participation in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, for the period from 18 – 24 May 2025,” the BCB stated in a statement. “It may also be noted that Mustafizur is available for Bangladesh’s first T20 international against the UAE scheduled on 17 May 2025 in Sharjah.”
DC selected Mustafizur to replace Jake Fraser-McGurk, but BCB claimed they were not notified of his involvement, which caused confusion. According to Cricbuzz, Mustafizur will depart the Bangladeshi team hotel following the May 17 opening match against the United Arab Emirates in order to join DC.
When the season starts on May 17, DC will still be vying for a position in the IPL 2025 playoffs. With 13 points from 11 games, they are now in fifth place, just one point behind MI, who are in fourth place and have played one more game.
DC’s final three games are against GT (May 18), MI (May 21), and PBKS (May 24), who are also in the top four. However, Mustafizur won’t be available for the last stretch if DC secures a postseason berth because he is anticipated to be included in the Bangladeshi team that faces Pakistan.
