After receiving a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection on Wednesday, March 12, Mustafizur Rahman of Bangladesh is ready to return to competitive cricket after a break. The left-arm pacer was not sold during the most recent player transfer window for the Dhaka Premier League, the nation’s top domestic List A competition.
In order to speed up tissue healing and reduce inflammation, PRP therapy involves injecting a concentrated volume of the patient’s own platelets into a specific area. This procedure also lessens pain. In sports medicine, this minimally invasive treatment is frequently employed.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s medical section confirmed the developments and stated that he had not suffered any new injuries.
“After receiving a PRP injection, Mustafizur Rahman will require some time off before playing again.
Although Mustafizur Rahman does not currently have any injuries, he does occasionally experience soreness from the left shoulder that was operated on, but he manages it and continues to play. According to Cricbuzz, the BCB medical unit member said, “PRP injections are typically used to stimulate healing and to reduce pain through regeneration.”
It was previously reported that Mustafizur Rahman would likely make a comeback to competitive cricket through the current DPL season. The same rumour suggests that the seasoned fast might decide to play in the DPL for Prime Bank Cricket Club.
An official from the Prime Bank Cricket Club informed the same sports news outlet, “We will definitely go for him if we can have him within our budget after we see when he gets fit.”
Mustafizur Rahman last played for Bangladesh in the Champions Trophy in 2025. In the Indian Premier League’s forthcoming super auction, he was not purchased. He might get a chance to participate in the IPL in 2025 because certain teams are struggling with player availability and injuries.
