England can make a revival, but they must be more agile on the pitch. Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan, a former England’s cricketer, criticised Ben Stokes‘ England team and stated that, beginning on Day 2, England must be much more adept in the field.

Australia is in complete command of the Lord’s Test match against England after dominating the first day. Australia scored 339 runs in 83 overs on the first day of the second Ashes Test, while England could only secure five wickets.

England’s performed poorly in the field early in the day, as they gifted Usman Khwaja and David Warner a lifeline by dropping their catches. Joe Root and Ollie Pope both missed two difficult opportunities presented by Australian batsmen. While England was not significantly harmed by Khawaja’s missed opportunity, David Warner made excellent use of the reprieve by scoring 66 off 88 balls to give Australia a good start in difficult overcast conditions.”England can make another revival, but I’m worried.

On BBC’s Test Match Special, Michael Vaughan remarked, “They’ll need to be sharper in the field, and I’m curious to see how they’ll do it.”

Vaughn stated, in reference to the batting conditions at Lord’s, that as the match progresses at Lord’s, the conditions for batting will become increasingly difficult. Therefore, England must remain vigilant at all times.

“I believe this pitch will become more difficult to bat on over the next few days, and I am concerned for England. Currently, the situation is quite challenging. Vaughan added, “At Edgbaston, they were turned off, and today, they were not turned on during crucial moments.”

After England won the toss at Lord’s, the visitors got off to a strong start thanks to Warner’s 66 runs off 88 deliveries, a crucial contribution made in difficult conditions.

Steve Smith and Alex Carey will open the second day for Australia. While Smith has reached 85* after 149 balls, Carey has reached 11* after 34 balls. After an exhilarating victory at Edgbaston, Australia will attempt to extend its lead at Lord’s to 2-0.
