On Tuesday, September 26 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, the third of the three ODIs between Bangladesh and New Zealand will take place. Bangladesh, who decided to bat first, were bowled out for 171 runs, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto hitting the most runs with 76 (84). However, a video of wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim attempting to deflect the ball away from his stumps during the opening innings has gone popular on social media.
Mushfiqur Rahim defended a short delivery on the opening ball of Lockie Ferguson’s 16th over, which is when the incident happened.
The stumps were struck, though, after the ball rebounded within the crease. Despite his best efforts, the wicketkeeper-batter was unable to kick the ball away in time and lost his wicket.

Adam Milne shines with four-fer
Earlier in the day, Adam Milne and Trent Boult used the new ball to hunt in tandem and cheaply dismiss both Bangladesh openers. Boult dismissed Tanzid Hasan (5 off 5), then Milne took out Zakir Hasan’s stumps (1 off 5) to leave Bangladesh on 8/2. Both Towhid Hridoy (18 off 17) and Mushfiqur Rahim (18 off 25) left his side at 88/4 and more in trouble.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was leading the team as captain, stood out as the lone fighter in the innings as he played a superb knock of 76 (84) while smashing 10 fours. He received no assistance from the other end, and Bangladesh was dismissed for 171 runs in 34.3 overs. With a spell of 4/34 in 6.3 overs, Milne was his team’s best bowler, while Boult (2/33, 6 overs) and Cole McConchie (2/18, 5 overs) also took two wickets.
With openers Finn Allen (28 off 26) and Will Young contributing 49 runs for the first wicket, New Zealand had a strong start in their reply. After a respectable start, the visitors lost two wickets in quick succession, with Shoriful Islam dismissing Allen and Foxcroft in back-to-back balls. With Will Young (42 off 56) and Henry Nicholls (21 off 49) at the crease, New Zealand was 95/2 after 22 overs.
