Before today’s match between the Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav gave an interview on his IPL debut. The MI batsman stated that he was so excited about his IPL debut that he barely slept the night before.
After taking the pitch, Suryakumar Yadav said he was anxious but also relished the amazing moment.
“I went to bed at four or five in the morning the night before my Mumbai Indians debut, barely getting any sleep. There was a great deal of excitement. Being a part of a franchise generates a certain buzz. I was simply savouring the moment, contemplating going out onto the pitch for the warm-up, and before I knew it, I was perspiring. “It felt great,” Suryakumar Yadav remarked.
Yadav had a strong domestic cricket season for Mumbai prior to the 2012 Indian Premier League, earning him a position in the MI team. Although it did not go well for him, the great batter was given the opportunity to play for them against Pune Warriors India.
In the sole game he played this season, Marlon Samuels got rid of the right-handed batter for a four-ball duck. Neither the remainder of the 2012 season nor the 2013 season saw him get a chance to play. He was released by MI prior to the 2014 season, which was advantageous for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
He was purchased by KKR at the 2014 IPL auction, and the star player played a key role in their second championship victory. He was mostly a finisher for the Kolkata-based team from 2014 to 2017. Yadav was released by the three-time champions prior to the 2018 IPL.
The error that MI made during Yadav’s initial tenure with them was not repeated. They haven’t let him go since they purchased him during the 2018 season. Suryakumar Yadav was instrumental in MI’s consecutive championship victories in 2019 and 2020.
