In the middle of the Maldives dispute, former captain of India MS Dhoni said he wanted to travel around India before taking vacations abroad. Following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent trip to Lakshadweep, a Maldivian official made contentious statements about the latter, implying that New Delhi is considering developing the Union Territory as a tourist destination that rivals the Maldives. Subsequently, two additional Maldivian ministers posted pictures of Prime Minister Modi from Lakshadweep along with some contentious remarks.

During his international career, Dhoni was heard boasting he had toured all over the world in a video that has gone viral on social media. But now that they’re married, he and his wife want to take holidays to other destinations, starting with India.

“I travel a lot, but not always for holidays. To be very honest, I haven’t taken many holidays. When I played cricket, I usually traveled to countries where the sport was played. I haven’t seen much because I thought that I had come to play cricket, would play it, and then return.

Thus, it’s not really entertaining that way,” MS Dhoni remarked in the footage.

“My spouse enjoys taking trips. As a result, our current goal is to travel during the time we have off. However, our goal is to begin in India. There are so many breathtaking locations here. Before going somewhere else, I would like to investigate them first,” the 42-year-old continued.

Prominent cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Venkatesh Prasad, and Suresh Raina have publicly disagreed with the prominent personalities in the Maldives who are at the centre of a controversy over their negative remarks regarding India. The famous cricket players have shown their support for Indian travel by taking a stance. Furthermore, the old video of MS Dhoni, in which he emphasized the culture and natural beauty of India, serves to further bolster the sense of respect for the country.
