According to reports, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has received a formal complaint lodged in the name of the renowned cricket player, MS Dhoni. The charges were brought under Rule 39 of the BCCI Ethics Committee by the complainant, Rajesh Kumar Maurya, a resident of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.
For those who are unaware, the charges are part of the ongoing INR 15 crore dispute between Dhoni and his former business partner, Mihir Diwakar, under Aarka Sports Management, which ran cricket academies under the former player’s name in India.
The board committee has now requested that MS Dhoni provide an official response by August 30.
Meanwhile, Maurya has been given till September 16 to respond to the 43-year-old’s rebuttal, as reported by DNA. A lawsuit was brought in the Ranchi Civil Court against former cricket player Mihir Diwakar for suspected fraud involving the native of Ranchi. Charges of fraud were brought against Dhoni’s associates Diwakar, Soumya Das, and Aarka Sports.
Mihir Diwakar, Soumya Das, and Aarka Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. were summoned by the local civil court on March 20, 2024, following their ruling at the hearing that the case was correct on first impression. Diwakar was accused of breaking the conditions of the agreement between the two parties on behalf of Dhoni.
Dhoni’s lawyer even claimed that although the company opened multiple academies, the former captain of India did not receive the agreed upon revenues. Even after the agreement was ended in 2021, Dhoni’s name continued to be used by Mihir Diwakar’s organisation.

Dhoni lost INR 15 crore as a consequence of the infraction. We are now awaiting more information and remarks from both parties. Maurya has been directed by the BCCI to furnish his reaction on the same.
