"It was my last day as an international cricket player," says MS Dhoni, reflecting on his final days as a player for India.

MS Dhoni, the former captain of India, is without a doubt one of the world’s most popular cricket players. The 42-year-old is regarded as one of the Indian team’s all-time best commanders, and the Men in Blue won numerous major championships when he was in charge.

When asked about the last phases of his international career, the former captain recently said, “The World Cup 2019 semi-final was the last day I played cricket for India in my mind,” during a RIGI promotional event.

Even though MS Dhoni will retire from international cricket in August 2020, his popularity will endure since he regularly attracts sizable crowds to stadiums throughout the Indian Premier League’s two-month duration. As he led the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL championship in 2023 despite a knee injury, his presence created a great deal of excitement and the stadiums filled to capacity.

The World Cup Semi-Final runout in 2019 marked the end of MS Dhoni career.

Cricket fans in India will never forget MS Dhoni’s run-out in the 2019 World Cup semi-final. India lost and the ICC trophy slipped away as a result of this dismissal, which crushed a billion hopes. It was a moment of pure ecstasy for New Zealand, though, as it turned out to be a game-changing wicket in the penultimate over of India’s chase.

One of Indian cricket’s most terrible moments is Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s heartbreaking walk back to the pavilion after getting run out in the 2019 World Cup quarterfinal against New Zealand. He has revealed that it was that very moment, slightly more than four years later, that he knew his international cricket career was ended.

“It is particularly challenging to regulate your emotions after losing in a close game. I’m done with my plans inside. Even though I declared my retirement a year later, in my opinion, that was the last day I ever played cricket for India. At a RIGI promotional event, Mahi stated, “But the truth is, I retired that day.”
