He also drew comparisons between the former captain of India and Michael Bevan, an explosive middle-order batsman and frequent finisher for Australia.
Remarkably, in 2004, Dhoni made his debut for India in a Chattogram match against Bangladesh, having worked hard in domestic cricket. He won the T20 World Cup with the national team in little over three years, and he was dubbed a finisher shortly afterward. In the early years of his career, Dhoni was frequently compared to Bevan, but Chopra asserted that Dhoni had just as excellent, if not greater, game awareness than Bevan.
