Recalling the incident in response to a fan’s query, Dhoni said it required some time to get over the defeat.
On August 15, 2020, the former captain of India announced his retirement from international cricket. He has not played in a match after the semi-final. Though he gave over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2024, he still plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
MS Dhoni added to the chaos in the semifinals by saying that optimism is crucial to realise that one gave it one’s all.

Following the 2019 World Cup, India pursued their quest for ICC glory. Under Virat Kohli, they were unsuccessful in the T20 World Cup 2021, losing in the group stage.

Australia defeated India in both the 2023 World Cup and WTC finals under Rohit’s leadership.
