Morkel Wants Rohit & Kohli in 2027 ODI WC

While highlighting the value of having seasoned players in a team, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel supported Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to compete in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Beginning on Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi, the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa will feature the two former captains of India.

According to Morkel, there is no reason why the two legends cannot play in the World Cup, which South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will co-host, if they are prepared to put in the necessary effort behind the scenes to stay in shape.

When asked if he personally supported the concept of having Rohit and Virat at the 2027 World Cup, Morkel responded to the media, “Sure, they are quality players.”

“As long as they are content to work hard and stay in shape.” I’ve always thought that you can’t find that kind of experience anywhere. They know how to compete in major competitions and have won prizes. The World Cup is still a long way off, but if they stay fit and feel like their bodies can handle it, then absolutely. “By all means (yes),” he continued.

During his playing career, Morkel acknowledged that he would have restless nights as he prepared to bowl against Rohit and Kohli.

“I’ve played a lot of games against them, and bowling to them has kept me up at night. As a bowler, I am aware of the preparation required to play against them. Therefore, I wholeheartedly agree with that,” she stated.

Looking forward to playing white-ball cricket over the coming few weeks? Morkel
Morkel expressed his excitement for the white-ball series, where the Men in Blue are predicted to be difficult to defeat, despite his dissatisfaction with India’s performance in the two Test matches they lost against the Proteas.

For us, the past two weeks were disheartening. However, we’ve had a few days to think. Maintaining our full focus on the white-ball team is crucial. Our white-ball cricket game has been going well. With Virat and Rohit returning, the team has a few new players. I’m looking forward to playing white-ball cricket over the next few weeks,” Morkel added.
