Morkel hints at surprise for 4th T20I selection

During the press conference prior to the fourth Twenty20 International, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel stated that the young all-rounder had finished all of the required practice chores and that an evaluation will be conducted following the session.

Since the January T20I series against England, Nitish Reddy has not played for India in the shortest format. A neck spasm kept him out of the first three matches of the current five-match T20I series against Australia. “He completed all of the work that was required of him in the areas of bowling, batting, and fielding.

He checked off everything, so we’ll know where he is now following the evaluation,” Morkel stated.

After Hardik Pandya got injured during the Asia Cup in September, Nitish Reddy was selected for the white-ball teams for the tour of Australia. However, during the second ODI in Adelaide, the Andhra cricket player had an injury to his left quadriceps. Although he was making good progress in his recuperation from this injury setback, his return was further delayed by neck spasms prior to the first Twenty20 International in Canberra.

To date, Nitish Reddy has represented the Men in Blue in nine Test matches, two ODIs, and four T20Is. The 22-year-old has amassed 90 runs in his four Twenty20 Internationals, including a career-high 74 against Bangladesh in Delhi. He took three wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 7.89 and an average of 23.67.

After the first three games, the five-match series is interestingly tied at 1-1. Rain caused the first Twenty20 International in Canberra to be canceled. But in the second match in Melbourne, Australia won by four wickets to take a 1-0 lead. India recovered admirably from the loss and won by five wickets in Hobart to tie the series.

On Thursday, November 6, the fourth Twenty20 International will take place at Queensland’s Carrara Oval. Given that the loser will have to give up any ambitions of winning the series, this will be a crucial match for both teams.
