Singapore bowling them out for 10, Mongolia recorded the second-lowest total in T20I ever

In a recent Twenty20 International match against Singapore, Mongolia’s national side was dismissed for just 10 runs, setting a record for the lowest total in men’s Twenty20 International cricket history. They equalled the record that Spain set against the Isle of Man the previous year.

Mongolia’s batting order collapsed in the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A match held in Bangi. Mongolia had suffered before; a few months prior, they were bowled out for 12, the second-lowest total in T20I history, against Japan. But the team’s most recent performance has brought them to all-time lows.

Singapore’s 17-year-old leg-spinner Harsha Bharadwaj, who bowled a brilliant game, was the mastermind behind Mongolia’s defeat. In his four-over performance, Bharadwaj captured six wickets for just three runs, which is the second-best stats in men’s T20I history. Two wickets fell to him in the first over of his spell.

Five batsmen from Mongolia were out for duck.

In the meagre ten overs that made up Mongolia’s innings, three of them were maidens. Five batters were struck out without allowing a run to score, demonstrating the team’s difficulties. The fourth and last wicket partnerships, which lasted a combined total of just 11 balls, were the longest of the innings.

Singapore, meanwhile, moved quickly to close the gap on the 11-run mark. They took five deliveries to complete their target, even though they lost a wicket on the opening ball. With 115 balls remaining in the match, William Simpson and Raoul Sharma completed the victory with a four and a six, respectively.

Three of the four lowest totals in men’s T20Is currently held by them all happened in 2024. In light of their most recent performance, their prior low of 12 versus Japan earlier this year suddenly seems almost decent.
