"Time will tell how much I know about cricket," Mohsin Naqvi replies to critics vowing to provide

Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi came forth and attacked his critics, saying he is in the position of chairman to perform and is not at all concerned with what his critics think of his expertise in the game.

When a journalist questioned him about his knowledge of the sport, he became enraged and made the statement. Additionally, he mentioned the impending formation of an advisory council led by Waqar Younis.

“We are here to deliver, but only time will tell how much I know about cricket. I am bringing in previous players to vet and enhance the cricket system and remove this culture of personal likes and dislikes, and I don’t care what others think. You will see the results,” Naqvi was cited by News18 as saying.

This new domestic structure will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the constitution. In Mohsin Naqvi

Naqvi also came up to declare the introduction of a new domestic framework that he said will be incorporated into the constitution. He announced that it will debut in September 2024 and centre around five teams, each consisting of thirty players.

Each squad would be overseen by a respected former stalwart who will be given three years to manage and produce results. “We will vet this new domestic structure into the constitution as well, so that it cannot be changed in the future.” Around ten individuals, including coaches, would make up each team’s support staff, according to Naqvi.

Waqar Younis, another attendee at the briefing, added that he agreed and was anticipating the numerous changes. “Cricket remains our product, and we have to play good cricket to maintain our brand. We will appoint five legends to head the teams, and I am already in touch with some of them.” “Every rest comes after,” he remarked.

According to the PCB, there will be 261 matches in all forms played in the men’s senior events throughout the season, which runs from September 2024 to August 2025. There will be 131 first-class games, 40 50-over games, and 90 T20 matches among the 261 total games.
