After the hosts defeated the West Indies 2-0 in the two-match Test series, Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj was pleased with his performance. With the bowling, Mohammed Siraj was crucial, taking 10 wickets at a remarkable average of 13.00 in two games. On difficult fields, he produced a number of hard stretches, especially at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, where the second and final games were played.
The Hyderabad-born cricket player acknowledged that it was challenging to bowl on the New Delhi pitch, saying that each wicket felt larger due to its extreme hardness, particularly in the intense heat. Mohammed Siraj got three wickets in the second Test at Delhi and noted that after working hard and consistently, the results felt very good.
In all honesty, this series was excellent as we played in Ahmedabad, which greatly aided the quick bowlers. However, after arriving in New Delhi, we had to bowl a lot of overs. It felt like five wickets for each one. When you receive a reward for your hard work as a fast bowler, you feel confident and content.
It felt great because you’re also the racing room’s impact player,” Mohammed Siraj told bcci.tv.
The right-arm bowler went on to say that he hopes to maintain his current level of play going forward and that Test cricket is still his preferred format. Success in red-ball cricket feels much more satisfying because of the many mental and physical hurdles it poses, Mohammed Siraj emphasised. “I want to continue contributing to the team’s success in the format and become an expert in red balls,” he said.
“You feel really good about yourself when you succeed. I am rather pleased with myself. I will keep performing in this manner because Test cricket is my preferred format. The difficulties are numerous. You must spend the entire day on the ground, both emotionally and physically. I’m honoured to be able to help,” he continued.
Mohammed Siraj next focus will be on the One-Day Internationals as part of the Australian tour. In the multi-format series, Siraj will spearhead the Men in Blue’s pace attack after Jasprit Bumrah is rested for the ODIs. Notably, the opening match will take place at Perth’s Optus Stadium on October 19, while the second and third ODIs will take place in Adelaide and Sydney on October 23 and 25, respectively.
