Mohammed Siraj can replace Bumrah, according to RP Singh, who made the bold statement following the RCB pacer's rapid ascent.

Mohammed Siraj, a well-known fast bowler from India, has been in superb form lately, leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling attack and picking off players during the powerplay. The 29-year-old, who briefly held the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings earlier this year, has ensured that the team won’t be without the services of injured paceman Jasprit Bumrah.

The ascent of Siraj has come at the perfect time for India, which will host the ODI World Cup 2023 in October and November and is in critical need of a potent pace attack given the uncertainties surrounding Bumrah’s participation in the prestigious event. Commenting on Siraj’s meteoric rise, former India seamer RP Singh has said that the seamer has worked on his wrist position and follow-through, which is worked wonders for him.

“I have been a Mohammed Siraj follower for a very long time. His graph was really high when he joined the Indian team, but it gradually began to decline. However, it’s encouraging to see that he put a lot of effort into improving his fitness this time. RP Singh was reported by the Hindustan Times as stating, “Now, if you look at the technical bit, he has worked very hard on his wrist position and follow through for which he is getting the ball to top bounce better and is also bowling stump-to-stump.

Further praising the Hyderabad-born seamer, RP said that if his trajectory continues upward, he might replace Bumrah and become the next Mohammed Shami.

“Of course, he can be a replacement for Bumrah. In fact, he might be the next Mohammed Shami, in my opinion, if his graph keeps rising, he said.

In the IPL 2023, Mohammed Siraj has taken 15 wickets.

In the ongoing IPL 2023, Siraj is the joint third-highest wicket-taker, with 15 wickets to his name from nine matches at an average of 17.13 and an economy of 7.34. Eight of his 15 wickets have come in the powerplay, and among bowlers who have bowled at least ten overs in that phase, he is the only one with an economy rate of under six for the first six overs.

Siraj has achieved a spectacular comeback from having an economy of 10.23 during powerplay in IPL 2022 to allowing Mohammed Siraj, a well-known fast bowler from India, has been in superb form lately, leading the Royal Challengers Bangaloress than run-a-ball in the current season. In the next World Test Championship final and ODI World Cup 2023, Indian fans will be hoping that the great seamer maintains his phenomenal form.
