In the opening ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia, the in-form Mohammed Siraj was rested. Mohammed Shami had the chance to take advantage of it, and he did so, finishing with career-best figures of 5/51 in 10 overs.
The veteran bowler was chatting to the commentators during the mid-innings break after his magnificent stint with the ball. Shami was questioned by renowned analyst and broadcaster Harsha Bhogle about if the humid weather in Mohali was having an impact on his health. Shami responded in jest, claiming that from his vantage point in the air-conditioned commentary booth, the seasoned commentator wouldn’t be able to comprehend how terrible the uncomfortable circumstances would be.
Mr. Harsha Bhogle Did you experience today’s heat?
Mohammed Shami: Probably, as you guys are seated in the air-conditioned boxes while we were on the ground.

After giving India a strong start, Ruturaj Gaikwad leaves for a half-century that was beautifully played.
Mohammed Shami’s outstanding bowling performance helped India dismiss Australia for 276 in 50 overs.
Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 66 runs in the first powerplay as a response, attacking the Australian bowlers. On their way to their respective fifty-run milestones, both batters played some incredible shots.
Gaikwad made a solid 71 off 77 balls before being bowled LBW by Adam Zampa. During his time in the middle, he struck 10 fours. In the opening ODI of the series, the brilliant pair put India in control with a 142-run stand off 130 balls. India sent in Shreyas Iyer at No. 3 after Gaikwad was out in the hopes that the Mumbai batsman would accumulate some runs in front of the next ODI World Cup. His innings, however, were cut short as he was run out for three off of eight pitches due to a misunderstanding with Shubman.
