Recently, former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali spoke up about how he thought Pakistan’s Test team captain should be outstanding batsman Mohammad Rizwan. Ali even hinted that if Rizwan is named captain, Pakistan will have a greater chance of winning their next Test series against England.
It’s interesting to note that Shan Masood took over as Pakistan’s new Test captain recently, replacing Babar Azam, who resigned from the position in all formats following Pakistan’s 2023 ODI World Cup performance.
“If Mohammad Rizwan is named captain, Pakistan will defeat England in the Test series.
Masood has led Pakistan to five losses in the five games since he assumed the captaincy, albeit he has not won nor lost since then. Regarding the same subject, Basit Ali suggested that Masood be replaced by Rizwan.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Basit Ali stated, “You will see a different Babar Azam in the England series, but the condition is that the captain should be Rizwan.”

In addition, Basit Ali discussed the performance of England’s standout batsman Joe Root and how he has consistently outperformed Sri Lanka. But he also said that if Joe Root were to get a century against Pakistan in the next games, the bowlers would have to deal with his fury.
Joe Root has consistently performed when against Sri Lanka. According to the English media, Root is expected to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record. He won’t surpass that feat. It is important to note that Pakistan will play England in three Test matches, with the first match scheduled to begin in Multan on October 7. Pakistan, having had suffered a series defeat to Bangladesh, may find it difficult to regain confidence. Nevertheless, they will be hoping to perform well against England.
