After time allowances were taken into account, Mohammad Rizwan’s team was determined to be one over short of the target, and Jeff Crowe of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees assessed the sentence. In the third ODI on Saturday in Mount Maunganui, Pakistan was penalised 5% of their match fee for continuing to play at a sluggish over-rate against New Zealand.
For each over their team fails to bowl in the allocated time, players are penalised 5% of their match fee in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with minimum over-rate offences.
There was no need for a formal hearing because Rizwan entered a guilty plea to the crime and agreed to the suggested punishment. The charge was levelled by third umpire Michael Gough, fourth umpire Wayne Knights, and on-field umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel.
disappointing series, but we’re already concentrating on PSL: Mohammad Rizwan
The setback in Mount Maunganui on Saturday was a whitewash for the Men in Green. After their humiliating home loss in the Champions Trophy 2025, they have been playing poorly in the format ever since. The captain of Pakistan, nevertheless, is certain that the team will now turn their attention to the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“The series is lacklustre. Positives for us include Naseem Shah’s batting and Babar Azam’s deft touch. Sufiyan was an excellent bowler. I will give New Zealand credit for their excellent performance in every area of the game. We must improve our performance against the new ball. We’ll return and talk about what we’ve discovered thus far. For us, the PSL is a major event, and we will enjoy it. At the post-match celebration following the third ODI, the skipper stated, “Hopefully, we will do well in the PSL, as we couldn’t do well in the Champions Trophy (and the series here).”
Commencing on April 11, the PSL 2025 will mark the eleventh iteration of the prestigious competition. This time, four locations—Multan, Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi—will host the event. You may observe Rizwan working for the Multan Sultans.
