Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal keep Pakistan alive, as Pat Cummins continues to dominate with his third straight free throw

Pakistan managed to stay in the Pink Test against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) because of the batting prowess of Aamer Jamal and Mohammad Rizwan. The visiting side lost both of their openers in the first two overs, enduring another dismal start. Mitchell Starc dismissed Saim Ayub, who had been named Imam-ul-Haq’s replacement for the playing XI, on the first ball of the game, and Josh Hazlewood defeated him.

Although Pakistan’s batting lineup once again wasn’t prepared for Pat Cummins, captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam took charge of the situation. The brilliant pacer eventually claimed a five-for after dismissing Babar for 26 runs. In the third Test, though, Mohammad Rizwan and Aamer Jamal were crucial. At one point, Pakistan was 47/4, and Rizwan came through with a spectacular 88 runs off 103 deliveries to help his team overcome the deficit.

He was well supported in the middle by Agha Salman, who scored 53 runs for the 30-year-old. He and Mohammad Rizwan put together a 94-run combination that gave Pakistan a boost.

Nevertheless, Pakistan lost three wickets in seven runs, and neither of the cricket players could take it to a century.

But in the third Test, the side scored 313 runs because of Aamer Jamal’s incredible skill at the bat. He stitched an 86-run stand with Mir Hamza, Pakistan’s second-highest partnership for 10th wickets against Australia. With his subsequent 82-run haul, Jamal became the first cricketer from Pakistan to record a five-for-five and score fifty or more in his first series of play.

Day 1 saw just one overplay by Australia. Australia are now behind by 307 runs after David Warner hit a boundary. The southpaw’s Baggy Green went missing prior to the third test, so he hasn’t found it yet. Warner was recently joined in pleading for Warner to return his test cap by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

This is how Twitter responded:

Aamir Jamal, Rizwan and Agha saved Pakistan from collapsing 🫡🙏🏻 Thank you all three of you, baki team bharr me jaye #PAKvsAUS #AusvPak https://t.co/d2qUq0qqTm

I don’t think Aamer Jamal will bat at no 9 too many more times in his career. Got to admire his pluck but also his skill. This determination is what the fans would have wanted to see from their team.
