India will try to replicate its outstanding performances from the just-completed ODI World Cup 2023 in the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024. There have been numerous conversations about who will captain the Men in Blue in the competition as the main event draws near. Many have voiced their opinions, including former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, that seasoned batsman Rohit Sharma should continue to captain the team in the Twenty20 World Cup. More than the batter Rohit, Kaif believes that India needs the captain Rohit. He praised his performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup as well as the tactical choices he made all through the competition.

Because Rohit Sharma possesses the following leadership trait, he must be present: Mohammad Kaif

“For the side to lead in the 2024 T20 World Cup, captain Rohit is more important than batter Rohit. With his leadership qualities, Rohit Sharma is a must-have. The way he led throughout the 50-over World Cup is proof of his outstanding leadership abilities. India will also require his T20 experience. Times of India cited Kaif as stating, “Rohit did a fantastic job as a skipper and as a batter, which India will need in T20s as well.”

In the meantime, the Indian squad will go to South Africa for a demanding schedule that includes two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. It is noteworthy that during the South Africa tour, India will have three different captains for each format: Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20I team, KL Rahul will lead the ODI team, and Rohit will lead the Test team.

Since the series is also a part of the World Test Championship 2023–25 cycle, the Indian squad will be looking for an improved performance on the South Africa tour after their heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final.
