The Important Statement That Mohammad Azharuddin Made Regarding Babar Azam Is That He Is "Naturally Not An Opener"

In the recently finished one-day internationals (ODIs), Pakistan suffered yet another defeat at home, this time at the hands of New Zealand. This comes on the heels of previous losses to Australia and England in one-day international and test series respectively. The fans and the experts have a lot of criticism for the manner in which the skipper, Babar Azam, bats, and it has to do with the fact that he scored 66 and 79 runs in the first two matches.

As a result of Pakistan’s lacklustre performance in their most recent match, many people are beginning to question Babar’s ability to command the team. On the other hand, Mohammad Azharuddin, who captained India previously, has a totally different impression of the batsman who is 28 years old.

According to Azharuddin, Babar Azam is not a natural opener, and the squad would be better off if he batted at number 4, since this would be more advantageous to the team overall.

Rizwan and Babar Azam are two significant openers for Pakistan in their lineup. During the most recent major competition, Babar Azam was eliminated via leg before wicket a number of occasions.

These are the considerations that need to be given your attention. If you are having trouble scoring runs at the top of the order, you should consider batting third or fourth instead; Pakistan would profit from this change as well.

“You need to adjust your plan because he is not naturally an opener,” Azharuddin told the reporters before the International League T20 match. “You need to change your strategy.”

In reference to Babar Azam role as captain, Azharuddin stated that it is too soon to evaluate the batsman’s potential for leadership, and that the batsman should be given a little bit more time.

“The process of learning takes time for everyone. How much time has passed since then? 1-2 years? Give him some time. “It is not simple to gauge someone’s potential to be a captain in such a short amount of time,” he remarked.

In the third and final one-day international match, which took place on Friday at the National Stadium in Karachi, New Zealand prevailed against Pakistan by a score of two wickets.

The visitors have now won their first One-Day International (ODI) series in Pakistan thanks to this victory, which also gave them a 2-1 lead in the three-game ODI series they played there.
