Mitchell Starc, a left-arm bowler from Australia, has made the decision not to play in the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 2025 final leg in India. The bowler, a standout player for the Delhi Capitals (DC) this season, has notified the team that he would not be available for the tournament’s remaining games.
The veteran has been called up to Australia’s team for the June 11 start of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against South Africa. He has chosen to leave early in order to concentrate on getting ready for the Test match, even though the IPL 2025 final is scheduled for June 3.
With 14 wickets in 11 games at an average of 26.14, Mitchell Starc is DC’s greatest wicket-taker to far and has been playing at his best this season.
In their quest for a postseason berth, DC will suffer greatly from his absence. Additionally, the franchise is awaiting word on Faf du Plessis’s availability. Tristan Stubbs, meantime, has stated that he will be attending the remainder of the league phase but will depart for the WTC Final.
Mustafizur Rahman, a pacer from Bangladesh, has joined DC to replace Jake Fraser-McGurk, who would not be playing the rest of the competition. However, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet awarded a No-Objection Certificate (NOC), there is question around the left-arm pacer’s participation. For the two-match T20I series against the UAE, the bowler is presently in Sharjah.
For their final league games, which conclude on May 25, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who have been eliminated from the tournament, will have Travis Head and Pat Cummins. They will therefore have plenty of time to get ready for the WTC Final.
Due to a shoulder niggle, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is awaiting an update on Josh Hazlewood’s fitness. Josh Inglis has not yet confirmed that he will be rejoining the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Before the IPL’s last stages, Mitchell Marsh is expected to return to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
