‘Really stick it up those who want four days!’- Mitchell Starc believes in having five-day Test matches

'Really stick it up those who want four days!'- Mitchell Starc believes in having five-day Test matches

The question of whether Test matches should be shortened to four days resurfaced on the fringes of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On this issue, many athletes and professionals hold differing opinions.

With the home team still undefeated at 228-9 and ahead by 333 in the second innings, the Boxing Day Test is in a situation where all three outcomes are feasible. India will want to take the last wicket as quickly as possible on the last day of the contest and hope that the batters perform well enough to win the Test match or draw it.

This season, there was also a continuous discussion on whether or not four-day Test matches should be the norm.

Mitchell Starc, the Australian standout bowler, is against the idea.

On Day 5, we have 98 overs to play. This is why a Test match lasts five days, and those who prefer four days should certainly be reprimanded! “I told ABC,” Starc said.

Day 5: He began working on his workload and plans for declaration.

In addition to discussing whether he thinks Test matches should last only four days, Starc also talked about his workload, and he stated without hesitation that he is not at all concerned about it.

That isn’t something that I find bothersome. I’m moving more quickly. Starc declared, “I’ll bowl 20 overs if I have to do so tomorrow.”

Additionally, he responded to the query regarding potential plans for declaration on Day 5.

“You must ask Pat Cummins. The brainstrust will have to be consulted,” Starc continued.
