Mitchell Santner scored a wicket for India against New Zealand. Ben Lister, a new face, will be leading the Twenty20 International squad to India

Ben Lister, a left-arm swing bowler, was given his first call-up to the New Zealand squad on Thursday, while veteran all-rounder Mitchell Santner will lead the side as captain for the three Twenty20 International matches that New Zealand will play against India this month.

After the end of the three-match One-Day International series that started in Hyderabad on January 18, New Zealand will play the first Twenty20 International match at Ranchi on January 27.

After making his debut for New Zealand A in India toward the end of the previous year, Lister has been called up to the team.

After being afflicted with pneumonia in Bangalore, the 27-year-vacation old’s of India was cut short and had to be shortened. As a result of the infection, he was forced to spend some time in the hospital before being discharged to complete his recuperation at home.

Mitchell Santner side will boast a group of seasoned Twenty20 cricketers, nine of whom were on the squad that competed in the Twenty20 World Cup the previous year.

All-rounder Henry Shipley, who made his international debut in the One-Day International series against Pakistan, and leg-spinner Michael Rippon, who made his debut against Scotland during the previous year’s European Tour, are two of the players who are still relatively new to international cricket. Other players in this group include a wide range of players who are still relatively new to international cricket.

Gavin Larsen, a selection for New Zealand Cricket (NZC), noted that Jed Lister had impressed with his spectrum of skills across all of the different formats.

“In both red and white ball cricket, Ben has already made a significant impact on the Auckland Aces, which is the domestic side for which he plays. Since making his debut in the end of 2017, he has become the top wicket taker for the Aces in both Twenty20 and List A cricket.

“It’s really thrilling to see him play left-handed baseball because he has a significant swing on the ball.

“After his tour ended the way it did last year, we all felt bad for Ben, and it’s a tribute to his work ethic that he’s been able to return to domestic cricket so strongly this season.” “We all felt bad for Ben after his tour ended the way it did last year.”

According to Larsen, Mitchell Santner performed admirably in the leadership roles he had previously been given with the T20 team. “Mitch is a leader for all of our white ball teams and has previously captained our Twenty20 side in India.

The leadership of this group will be much improved by his extensive expertise in the Indian environment.” It has been decided that Luke Ronchi will serve as the team’s head coach, while his assistant coaches will be Bob Carter (batting), Paul Wiseman (bowling), and Trevor Penney (fourth coach).

Mitchell Santner is the captain of the New Zealand Twenty20 squad, which consists of the following players: Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Dane Cleaver, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Ben Lister, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Rippon, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, and Blair Tickner.
