''We pride ourselves on fielding'- Mitchell Santner after New Zealand's win in high-scoring match

At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 10, New Zealand defeated South Africa in the second One-Day International of the Pakistan tri-series. New Zealand continued their successful run to get to the series finals after defeating the hosts, Pakistan, in the first game.

Regarding the second match, Kane Williamson’s undefeated century (133 off 113 deliveries) and Devon Conway’s quick innings (97 off 107 deliveries), which came in for the injured Rachin Ravindra, helped the Blackcaps chase down a huge total.

Mitchell Santner, the captain of New Zealand, had a lot to say about his team’s outstanding performance.

He praised the fielding and the combination between Williamson and Conway, who combined for 187 runs for the second wicket.

“I think you want to win, but it’s good to see different guys perform for the team, and we have another big game in Karachi in a few days.” I suppose we take great satisfaction in our ability to field, particularly when there are partnerships in the middle overs on flat surfaces. During the post-match interview, Santner stated, “It was an incredible knock from Conway and that partnership between him and Kane.”

More runs would have been nice: Temba Bavuma

The South African squad put up a respectable score thanks to some spectacular performances, but their lacklustre bowling effort ultimately cost them the match. Temba Bavuma, the captain, believed that as the ball grew older, the pitch became easier. Bavuma remarked that newcomer Matthew Breetzke might become an all-format player in the future after praising him for his outstanding 150 off 148 performance.

Yes, there are some advantages. Matty scored 150 on his debut, while the other players contributed as well from a bowling perspective. most likely didn’t score many runs. They got the ball to nip around off the surface, which made it difficult to use the new ball, but it became a little simpler after that. In the interview after the game, Bavuma stated, “I would have liked to get more runs.”

“It won’t get any easier after this game; we’ll need to improve your bowling and batting significantly. We must improve as a team, and the turnaround will be swift. He was one of those men waiting in the wings, and he was fantastic. I’m sure you’ll see a lot more of Breetzke, as he’s one of the people who plays all three formats,” he continued.
