Three players missed hundreds in the last 24 hours in the 2025 IPL

There have already been many nerve-wracking moments in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Nevertheless, the last 24 hours have been incredibly uncommon, with three batters coming painfully close to earning well-earned hundreds. Because they don’t happen very often, these kinds of moments have gained popularity.

Batsmen in their 90s have fallen out of the IPL in every edition. In this sense, IPL 2025 has not been any different. Three players have been fired in the 90s in a single day for the first time in the prestigious T20 league’s history. The three players’ names, a synopsis of their innings, the reason for their dismissal, and the game’s final result are listed below.

In the past 24 hours, the following three players have missed hundreds:

1. Prabhsimran Singh (PBKS vs. Lucknow Super Giants, 91 off 48)

Prabhsimran Singh

Prabhsimran Singh gave Punjab Kings a strong start during the powerplay after the Lucknow Super Giants put him in to bat first. By the end of the first six overs, he had already scored 29 off his first 15 deliveries. With just 30 deliveries needed to reach the milestone, the hard-hitting opener reached his third successive half-century this season.

After achieving his fifty, Prabhsimran smashed five sixes and one four in the next 17 balls. On the last delivery of the penultimate over, he was out for 91 (48). Six fours and one extra six made up his knock. Prabhsimran’s reverse-scoop went terribly awry, as he was only able to provide Nicholas Pooran with a catch at extra cover. In the end, PBKS prevailed by 37 runs.

2. Ayush Mhatre (CSK: 94 off 48 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

Ayush Mhatre

Ayush Mhatre could only muster 10 runs off his first nine deliveries while chasing a 214-run target set by RCB. Mhatre really changed gears in the fourth over of the match, which was Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s second over for the Chennai Super Kings. With the exception of the fourth delivery, which was hit for six, all of the veteran campaigner’s deliveries raced to the fence. In just his fourth innings, Mhatre reached his first IPL half-century. The 17-year-old wonder replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad, the full-time captain, who was injured.

During their partnership, Ravindra Jadeja was able to be the aggressor as he easily rotated the strike through the middle overs. Mhatre was on 94 to end the 114-run stand. Lungi Ngidi’s slower delivery was attempted by the child, but he ultimately gained more elevation than distance. Krunal Pandya made a catch with ease. The game was ultimately lost by CSK by a minuscule two-run margin.

1. Riyan Parag (RR vs. Kolkata Knight Riders, 95 off 45)

1. Riyan Parag (RR vs. Kolkata Knight Riders, 95 off 45)

During the run chase against the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Rajasthan Royals were in serious difficulty when stand-in captain Riyan Parag got to the crease. By the conclusion of the second over, RR had already lost Kunal Singh Rathore (zero off five) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (four off two). Despite having a strong appearance during his stay, Yashasvi Jaiswal (34 off 21) was fired at the end of the powerplay. By the eighth over, RR had lost half of their team. The game appeared to have taken an entirely different turn in the thirteenth over of the second innings.

With all of his might, Parag smashed Moeen Ali for five straight sixes. After exceeding his greatest IPL score on the fourth ball of the 16th over, Parag appeared poised for his first IPL tonne, following an outstanding bowling effort in the first innings (1/21 in three overs). The eighteenth over saw a breathtaking knock come to a painful conclusion. In an attempt to go large, Parag holed out to long-on. The hosts claimed victory by just one run, and RR lost the match by the narrowest of margins.
