The second Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 match saw the TSK hold their composure to defeat MI New York by just three runs in an exciting encounter that came right down to the last ball.
Daryl Mitchell bowled brilliantly to ensure a thrilling victory for MINY, who needed nine runs from the last over as they chased 186.
The pursuit of MINY had started out shakily. Nicholas Pooran, the skipper, was out for six as they lost three wickets during the powerplay. However, Monank Patel persevered through early difficulty before settling into a rhythm and reaching a half-century. He had solid help from Bracewell, and the two of them combined for a solid 97-run partnership that placed MINY back in the game.
However, Adam Milne and Mitchell changed the course of the match just when the chasing team’s chances appeared promising. Bracewell gave Milne his third wicket, but Mitchell’s involvement in two run-outs off successive balls—first for Kieron Pollard and then for Monank Patel—was the true turning point. Despite their late hits, Trent Boult and Tajinder Dhillon were unable to put MINY across the finish line.
TSK was asked to bat first earlier and ended up scoring 185/6. Calvin Savage, who was later voted Player of the Match, slammed an undefeated 53 off just 34 balls to boost the score in the closing overs, while Devon Conway led the innings with a strong 65 off 44 balls. With two crucial wickets of Mitchell and Milind Kumar taken by Michael Bracewell, MINY’s bowlers had largely had things under control up until that point.
The Texas Super Kings defeated MI New York 182/8 in 20 overs (Monank Patel 62; Adam Milne 3-22) by 3 runs with a score of 185/6 in 20 overs (Devon Conway 65, Calvin Savage 53*; Michael Bracewell 2-34).
