Cricket At a Board of Directors meeting held on June 30 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, the West Indies (CWI) announced the appointment of former West Indies cricketer Miles Bascombe as their new Director of Cricket for a three-year term. On August 1, the 37-year-old will replace former Windies player Jimmy Adams, who has held the position for the past six years. Notably, Graeme West, CWI High Performance Manager, will serve as interim Director of Cricket until Bascombe assumes his new position.
In addition to participating in one Twenty20 International (T20I) for the West Indies in 2011, Bascombe also played first-class cricket for the Windward Islands and the Combined Campuses and Colleges from 2007 to 2017. He is a certified coach who served as a CWI Men’s Selector from 2019 to 2021 and most recently as the Technical Director of the Windward Islands Cricket Board.

CWI Chief Executive Officer Johnny Grave stated, following Miles Bascombe’s appointment, that the 37-year-old stood out to the council with his talents, experience, and in-depth knowledge of their cricket system after a rigorous recruitment process. He continued by stating that his passion for and understanding of the game at all levels are exceptional and that he is a critical thinker with a strong analytical and strategic mindset, which will be of great value to the team. He is confident that Bascombe will elevate their cricket system’s standards.
Bascombe, on the other hand, believes that CWI is at a crossroads and that performance must be improved immediately.
