Michael Vaughan says that India greatly misses Virat Kohli's leadership in Test cricket.

If Virat Kohli had led the team, India would not have lost the Hyderabad Test, according to former England captain Michael Vaughan. With a commanding lead of 190 runs after the first inning, the hosts were in control, but they were unable to match the ferocity with which the England batsmen performed brilliantly in the middle.

With 196 runs from Ollie Pope and good late-inning contributions from Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley, England amassed a mammoth 420 runs in the second inning. After that, the visitors won the game by a score of 28 runs thanks to a seven-fer by rookie Tom Hartley.

Considering that, Michael Vaughan said that India was totally outplayed in the second inning and that they missed Kohli’s leadership in the red-ball format.

“They greatly miss Virat Kohli’s leadership in Test cricket. India wouldn’t have dropped the match if Virat had been captain that week. Rohit is a fantastic player and a legend. However, I thought he simply turned off entirely,” Michael Vaughan stated on the Club Prairie Fire program.

India, meanwhile, have never before lost a Test match at home despite leading by more than 100 runs in the opening innings. Numerous former cricket players, including Michael Vaughan and Anil Kumble, have noted that the bowlers lacked effort; the Three Lions exploited this weakness. However, injuries have ruled out KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of their second Test in Vizag, which is scheduled to start on February 2.

Washington Sundar, Sarfaraz Khan, and Saurabh Kumar took their places on the team. Sarfaraz is among the favorites to make his debut for the national team among these players. The youthful player earned his place in the Indian squad thanks to his outstanding performance against the England Lions. As things stand, Kuldeep Yadav is anticipated to replace Jadeja in the playing XI, while either Rajat Patidar or Sarfaraz is anticipated to replace Rahul.
