AUS vs IND 2024-25: Michael Vaughan picks BGT Combined XI, excludes Nitish Kumar Reddy

Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 by themselves after the Indians suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat at the hands of the hosts, who returned the trophy after a ten-year absence. Individuals on both teams put on some incredible performances, but teamwork helped the Pat Cummins-led team win the fifth and final Test match at the storied Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

Following the conclusion of an exciting trip, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan selected his best playing XI from the series. With 448 runs at an average of 56.00, Travis Head, the series’ top scorer, came in at number five in the combination. Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, earned a place in the English international’s playing XI after taking an incredible 32 wickets during the series. The only all-round player on the list was Ravindra Jadeja, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who made a century at the MCG, was left off.

Australia is eligible to defend their WTC title.

Australia’s victory in the New Year’s Test at the SCG was much more than a series victory. With the victory, they become the second qualifiers alongside South Africa and improved their points percentage (PCT) in the World Test Championship table for the 2023–25 cycle. Now, both teams will face off at the WTC Final 2025, which will take place at the Lord’s in London, the most revered location in cricket history. The Australians have a great chance to finish the cycle as the top team, though, as they still have a few games left against Sri Lanka.
