Michael Vaughan criticizes Joe Root for playing unconventional Bazball cricket, saying, "He doesn't need to be Bazballer."

The current captain of England, Joe Root, has come under fire from former captain Michael Vaughan for his unorthodox ‘Bazball’ strategy during the current Test series against India. Root should go back to his classic style, which has won him 10,000 test runs, according to Vaughan, who questioned Root’s departure from it.

Vaughan expressed his opinions, pointing out Root’s experimenting in Visakhapatnam after left-handed net practice. Root is regarded as one of England’s finest against spin, so the criticism highlights the need for him to play a more controlled role and stick to his tried-and-true abilities.

From ball one, they England are in fifth gear. Some of them play better as a result, so I don’t mind at all. However, Joe Root needs to disregard it. Playing like Joe Root, he has ten thousand test runs. He not need to be a basketball player. It’s time for a management figure to wrap an arm around Joe and tell him to “please just be yourself,” Vaughan stated in a UK Telegraph article.

“I believe the root of the problem is that he is overly engrossed in Bazball and its thrilling and entertaining atmosphere. This is especially critical in the face of spin,” he continued.

Root is one of England’s best against spin, so Vaughan underlined how important it is that he stick to his proven skills.

“Root, together with Graham Gooch, is the greatest spin player England has ever produced. “Seeing him bat the way he did in the second innings is not Root, and England will not win in India by giving wickets away,” Vaughan said.

Management should help Root return to his natural game, Vaughan begs. Seeing Root miss the target in both innings with an unusual reverse sweep, Vaughan highlights how important it is for Root to be the anchor in the lineup, providing stability while letting others take chances.

“When I saw him go off to a reverse sweep in both innings, I knew something was wrong. It isn’t how he plays. He lets himself in and then takes a chance. Allow the fireworks to erupt in that manner. Vaughan highlighted Root’s position as the pillar of the batting order, saying, “Joe has to be the rock, the calming influence while the madmen tee off around him.”

Though the series remains tied at one wicket, Vaughan’s analysis of Root’s tactics adds a fascinating dimension to England’s game plan. Root, who is renowned for his calm and traditional manner, is currently being criticized for taking a more daring tack. Fans are left to wonder whether Root will follow Vaughan’s suggestion and stick to the Bazball in the forthcoming matches, or if he will take his advise and go back to his tried and reliable formula.
