The team’s performances and the young players who made their debuts on the biggest platform in international cricket are praised by Kiwi captain Michael Bracewell. With an 84-run victory in the second ODI, New Zealand won the three-match ODI series against Pakistan. A fantastic debut as the ace all-rounder’s captain in white ball cricket.
The Kiwis once again outperformed the visitors in every area in the second game of the series, putting on another brilliant display. The fact that they have controlled the series in spite of the absence of certain key international cricket players would please the Kiwi captain. In his post-match remarks, Bracewell commended all of the cricket players, but particularly Mitchell Hay and Ben Sears, who were the game’s standouts at Hamilton’s Seddon Park.
We lost a few wickets in the middle of the innings, but the way we battled through it and formed alliances was outstanding. Mitchell Hay put up a fantastic performance. Collaboration enabled us to reach a competitive sum. The fact that we simply let them express themselves speaks volumes about the team. What enables the new players to go in and perform right away is not a secret. Our domestic game is in a tremendously great position, as I have stated several times. During the post-match presentation, Bracewell stated, “They put up a strong performance, even though not all of us have international experience.”
“Just about doing basic things,” Michael Bracewell explains.
“We have had some fantastic cricket matches this summer. We basically focus on the little things and want to end on a positive note. Throughout his career, Sears sustained numerous injuries. He has performed incredibly well and has prepared himself by working hard off the pitch. I’m happy to see him get the benefits of his efforts today,” Bracewell said.
In relation to that, the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui will host the last and final game of the ODI series. There will be a chance for Pakistan to put up a good show in the latter stages of the series, or for New Zealand to win the series with a clean sweep and finish with another outstanding performance.
