Michael Atherton was impressed by Yashasvi Jaiswal's

Former England batsman Michael Atherton praised Yashasvi Jaiswal highly for his outstanding performance on Day 1 of the Test match against England for his brilliant exhibition of aggressive batting. After India bowled out the Ben Stokes-led team for 246 runs, his unbroken 76 off 70 balls tipped the scales in their favour. On the first ball of his Test career, the young Indian batsman hit debutant spinner Tom Hartley for a six in particular. On Day 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit a boundary and was removed by Joe Root in the very next ball.

With just one wicket lost by the conclusion of the day, India had amassed 119 runs in just 23 overs thanks to Jaiswal’s assault. Atherton said that his aggressive style had put England on the defensive from the beginning and that the visiting team was finding the Test series difficult to begin. His effort highlighted India’s supremacy in the day’s last session and created a captivating atmosphere for the remainder of the game.

“It was a fantastic cricket day. The young player Jaiswal played incredibly fiercely towards the end of the day, which is why England came out second best overall. It was a difficult day for England. As an inexperienced player, he really went after Tom Hartley on his debut, but it was clear that Atherton was trying to get after Hartley from the start, according to India Today.

With nine boundaries and three sixes on the first day of the Test match, the southpaw showed off his attacking ability and got one wicket shy of his second Test century. Alongside Shubman Gill, who amassed an undefeated 14 off 43 balls, Jaiswal showed assurance right away. Tom Hartley, making his Test debut, was not given much time to adjust to his new role in the team, but Atherton praised the aggressive batting of the India opener.

“Jaiswal, bowlers and England supporters will have seen less of him. He appears to be a very self-assured young man based on their observation of him today. He simply took the game on today and played with such composure and confidence. grabbing the initiative and placing England under pressure. Jaiswal had different ideas, although Stokes would have preferred for Hartley to ease his way in on debut,” he said.
