Mehidy Hasan Miraz, an all-rounder for Bangladesh, will not play in the forthcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against the Netherlands since he took time off from the national team to spend time with his ailing wife. The 28-year-old will not be participating in the series that starts later this month in Sylhet after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed on Tuesday that he has been given vacation from August 20 to September 4.
The team’s preparation for the Asia Cup 2025, which kicks off in the United Arab Emirates on September 9, is thought to include the Netherlands series. The series versus the Dutch is expected to be important for squad testing and combination refinement.
“Because his wife is not feeling well, Mehidy Hasan took a leave of absence from August 20 to September 4.
According to a BCB official cited by Cricbuzz, “he is not flying to Sylhet for the skill camp ahead of the series against the Netherlands as a result.”
On August 26, the Netherlands squad will land in Bangladesh.
Mehidy Hasan had participated in Bangladesh’s Dhaka training camp, which was designed to get players ready for the Asia Cup and the Netherlands T20Is. During Bangladesh’s T20I home series against Pakistan, he made his final appearance for his country.
However, Bangladesh will need to rapidly reassemble without him as the team is heading to Sylhet on Tuesday night for a skill-based training camp. His successor is currently unknown, as the series’ final roster has not yet been revealed.
On August 26, the Netherlands team is anticipated to land in Bangladesh. Before the series starts, they will spend three days in Sylhet training. The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will host all three games. The first game is set for August 30 and the others for September 1 and September 3.
