Issy Wong of England began the pre-Ashes war of words by challenging Australia and implying that Meg Lanning squad may not be as threatening as it was five years ago. In response to Wong, the Australia captain praised England’s new approach to Test cricket but emphasized that Australia remains the top-ranked team in the globe.
Meg Lanning added that the team is always striving to improve and remain ahead of the competition and other teams.
She also mentioned that this is a wonderful occasion for the visitors to evaluate and monitor their development in the longest format of the game.
“There’s a really positive atmosphere within the team, and everyone wants to keep pressing for more success. I have not detected any indication that we are essentially waiting. Teams are pursuing us, so we are aware that we must continue to improve to maintain our lead. According to The West Australian, Lanning stated that the Ashes would provide a “really good early indication” of this.

Jess Jonassen, one of Australia’s most dependable players, stated that it’s nice to win the majority of games and advance to the top of the table, but it’s extremely difficult to maintain the position. She also embraced the notion of playing a Test match in Indian conditions later in the year, stating that it would be an entirely new experience for the entire team.
Jess stated, “It’s always nice and enjoyable to win games and be in the lead, but it’s extremely difficult to stay there.”
“Each season or year brings something new that you eagerly anticipate,” said Jonassen. Last year, we participated in the Commonwealth Games. This year, the concept of playing a Test match in India is being considered. Being in India during Christmas and New Year’s will be a novel experience for us. This will be an additional challenge, but I know our team is eagerly anticipating it,” she continued.
