The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will present lifetime achievement awards to Ratnakar Shetty and Dilip Vengsarkar. Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan will present the honors on Thursday at the MCA Sharad Pawar Indoor Cricket Academy and Recreation Centre, BKC, Mumbai.
Dilip Vengsarkar has 116 Test caps and was formerly captain of India. He also played for the team that won the World Cup in 1983. Having worked for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for decades, Shetty is an experienced cricket administrator.
Diana Edulji, a former administrator and captain of the Indian women’s team, will also be honored by the MCA.
“Mumbai Cricket has always been the beating heart of Indian cricket, producing legends who have shaped the game,” stated MCA President Ajinkya Naik. Even as we commemorate our previous successes, we are steadfastly focused on the future—developing young players, improving facilities, and making sure Mumbai stays the dominant force in Indian cricket.
Our steadfast dedication to player welfare, grassroots development, and excellence at all levels will fortify our cricketing heritage and clear the path for the upcoming generation of winners. Mumbai cricket has a bright future, and if we work together, we can make it even better.
