During the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mayank Yadav, a tearaway speedster, may not be available for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Last season, the gifted young player made an impression by bowling at unbelievable speeds to unsettle opposing hitters. Later that year, in a Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh, he made his debut for the national squad.
ESPNcricinfo claims that Mayank Yadav is still recovering from a lumbar stress injury.
Mayank Yadav only recently returned to bowling after undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru due to a back ailment he sustained after making his India debut.
When the fast bowler will return to the IPL is not set in stone. According to sources, he might be allowed to play for the Super Giants in the second half of the IPL if he satisfies the fitness requirements.
Injuries have been a problem for Mayank Yadav recently. Due to injuries, he was unable to participate in the 2023 Indian Premier League; however, he made a comeback last season and took three wickets against the Punjab Kings. In the subsequent match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mayank Yadav achieved a three-for once more. In both matches, the right-arm pacer was named Player of the Match. The cricket community took notice of him because of his ability to bowl regularly at over 150 kph.
However, a side ailment limited his IPL 2024 play to four games. The LSG management believed in him and signed him for INR 11 crore prior to the November mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, even though he was unavailable for the majority of the previous season.
Zaheer Khan, who was named LSG’s Director of Cricket, claimed that the team has been putting in a lot of effort to figure out when Mayank could return once he is fully fit.
“As much as we are keen on having him [play IPL 2025], we want him 150% fit not just 100% fit so we’ll do everything possible to get him there,” Zaheer had stated.
When Lucknow plays the Delhi Capitals at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday, March 24, they will embark on their IPL 2025 journey under new skipper Rishabh Pant. After qualifying for the playoffs the previous two seasons, the Super Giants finished seventh in the 2024 Indian Premier League. They will try to go the distance this year and have put together a formidable team for the mega-auction.
