IND vs BAN 2024: Aakash Chopra explains why Mayank Yadav didn't bowl 150-160 kmph in 1st T20I

Soon after, on Sunday, October 6, at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Mayank Yadav, a young speedster, made his debut for India against Bangladesh in the first Twenty20 international match. The 22-year-old was the talk of the cricket world as he often bowled at over 150 kmph during the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year, stunning fans with his speed.

Even though his pace startled the Bangladeshi batsmen in the opening Twenty20 International, he wasn’t bowling as fast as he had in the Indian Premier League. To put things in perspective, during the IPL, Yadav delivered a ball at 156.7 kmph and made multiple threats to break his own record. But he failed to reach the 150 kmph barrier in the first T20I.

According to Aakash Chopra, the pacer wasn’t exerting himself to the fullest because he was recovering from an injury. Since it was the young player’s first game wearing the Indian uniform, the former opener for India could also sense that he was anxious.

“Mayank Yadav bowled his first over as a maiden.

” His last cricket match was four months ago. He was returning from an injury. A couple of butterflies landed in his tummy. In a video posted on his YouTube account, Chopra stated, “There was also a little nervous energy.”

But he got off to a good start and attempted to bowl in a straight line. He was focusing a little more on his body, saying to himself, “Let’s not push myself because I am coming back after an injury,” rather than aiming to hit 150–160 kph. Nonetheless, this bowler’s velocity is undeniable,” the former cricket player turned specialist stated.

He demonstrated he had the following ingredients by bowling quickly: Aakash Chopra

Furthermore, according to Aakash Chopra, Yadav possesses good velocity and all the qualities needed to become a deadly weapon in India’s bowling attack. The 47-year-old believed that the Indian squad would provide the native of New Delhi with the necessary time to polish his abilities.

“He demonstrated that he has the ingredients by bowling quickly. Right now, you are viewing the items that can be used to produce a delicious cuisine. But I think it would take some time, and the Indian squad will give him time,” Chopra said.

Notably, Team India easily defeated the Tigers in the opening Twenty20 International, bowling them out for just 127 runs before holding them to a meager 11.5 overs with seven wickets remaining. The second game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9 at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
