Mayank Yadav, a rookie for the Lucknow Super Giants, had a fantastic debut in the IPL. When LSG played the Punjab Kings in the 11th game of the major competition on March 30 at Ekana Stadium, the 21-year-old made his debut.
Punjab set out to chase down a target of 200 runs, and the team got off to a great start thanks to the top order appearing to be in excellent form. But Mayank Yadav, who is still young, was important in helping LSG eliminate the top order and ultimately win the match.
Morne Morkel, LSG’s bowling coach, was undoubtedly impressed with his performance. The ex-pro player came forward to compliment Mayank Yadav on his performance during his IPL opening game.
“Young Mayank took wickets with some tremendous heat in his bowl. Last year was difficult because of his injury sustained following the first practice. His management is improving. The pleasing part was that he ran in,” News18 cited Morkel as saying.

Notably, the Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 21 runs after restricting the Punjab Kings to a total of 178 runs in the second inning. Yadav got three wickets and let up 27 runs during his outstanding session, earning him the title of Player of the Match. After the game, the young player said that his strategy was to bowl as much at the stumps as possible and to avoid getting under pressure.
“I’ve always heard from others that first-time anxiousness usually subsides after the first ball. Yadav stated that the strategy was to bowl at the stumps, avoid undue pressure, and utilise the pace as much as feasible.
