Maxwell's training overhaul is methodical and paying off.

In the second exhibition match against Pakistan, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell scored 77 runs off 71 deliveries, which should give him more confidence going into the forthcoming ODI World Cup, which will start on October 5. Notably, the 34-year-old was out with an injury for a prolonged period of time and was about to miss the major competition, but he healed in time and has made considerable progress since his comeback. The cricket player has excelled not only with the bat but also with the ball.

Maxwell, in contrast, noted that his warm-up routines are now more planned and that he must perform all the tiny tasks that he neglected to complete in his early professional years. The cricketer added that while preparing for a game always causes him some mental fatigue, once he gets into it, nothing really worries him.

“I guess there’s always that mental weariness of, ‘How’s it gonna go tonight?'” But as soon as I start moving, everything is good. These days, my warm-up definitely has a little more organization. In the beginning of my career, I used to go out here and give it my all, and I was fine. Now, I have to do all those tiny things that I avoided. Maxwell was reported by ESPNcricinfo as stating, “But certainly [now] just a little bit more thought around how much time I spend out there in the warm-up and certain minor drills I have to do.

Before meeting India, Australia appears to have a plan in place.

Travis Head won’t be playing in the first game; Marnus Labuschagne will take his place in the starting lineup. But Alex Carey’s position in the starting XI is still up in the air. Although the stumper-batter has experience playing on the subcontinent, he hasn’t recently made much of an impact with the bat. Australia may therefore lean toward Josh Inglis, but considering Carey’s background, it’s unlikely that the Kangaroos will try something new in the early stages of the competition.

To help Adam Zampa with his spin, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood are anticipated to start in place of Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne.
