After passing the testing in Brisbane, where all of his deliveries were well within 15 degrees, Australia’s left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemaan‘s action was cleared by the ICC. The 28-year-old rising Australian star, who was going through one of the worst times in his cricket career because of this test, is relieved.
Even after recovering from a severe thumb injury, Matthew Kuhnemann was the leading wicket-taker in the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, establishing himself as one of the greatest bowlers for the Australians. Due to the injury to his non-bowling hand, Matthew Kuhnemaan was advised to undergo the tests and missed a significant amount of domestic cricket.
In his eight-year career, this was the first time his action was publicized. A statement regarding the tests conducted at the National Cricket Centre was also issued by the ICC.
ESPNcricinfo cited an ICC statement that stated, “On February 15, he underwent an independent bowling assessment at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, where it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension for all his deliveries was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.”
In addition to Matthew Kuhnemaan, Cricket Australia (CA), who supported the young spinner as an essential component of the Test team, particularly in subcontinental circumstances, is pleased with the news.
Ben Oliver, the executive general manager of CA, also reacted to the news, expressing his satisfaction that the issue with Matthew Kuhnemaan had been settled once and for all.
“We are happy for Matt that this issue has been settled. Although it has been a difficult time for him, he has handled himself very well. Oliver commented on the report, saying, “He has had the full support of Australian cricket and can now move forward to the next phase of his international career with great confidence.”
