Matthew Hayden bluntly criticised MS Dhoni, saying, "He has lost cricket, should join our commentary team."

During the IPL 2025 match between CSK and DC, Matthew Hayden was in the commentary box. The former CSK player talked about MS Dhoni’s bad play and his incapacity to complete games for his team during the current campaign. The 2010 IPL champion expressed his candid opinion, believing that Dhoni’s cricket career is over.

Hayden chastised his former CSK captain for not chasing after Dhoni’s undefeated 30 off 26, which featured a four and a six each. Dhoni and Vijay Shankar were unable to accelerate in spite of the increasing required run rate. Dhoni need to join him in the commentary box, the Australian continued.

According to Matthew Hayden assessment, “He should accept this fact until it’s too late for CSK.”

“After this game, MS Dhoni ought to join us in our commentary box. The cricket has been lost by him. For him, it’s over.  His statement, meanwhile, could not be confirmed.

MS Dhoni’s current IPL 2025 performance

The CSK star’s season hasn’t started off as well. With a top score of 30*(16) this season, Dhoni has amassed 76 runs at a strike rate of 138.18 in four innings.

Notably, he has primarily contributed when CSK had little to no chance to win or had been all but eliminated from the game. Dhoni was undefeated on 0 after facing two balls in CSK’s lone victory of the season against the Mumbai Indians. Dhoni struck 30*(16) against RCB when CSK needed 98 runs in the final 28 balls.

When 54 was needed in 25 balls against RR, the right-handed batter came in the middle and scored 16 (11). He and Vijay Shankar were the last known partnership to bat against DC when 110 runs were required in 56 balls. Since the pair had no intention of pursuing the aim, he made 30*(26).
