SL vs BAN 2024: Due to a hamstring injury, Matheesha Pathirana is unable to play in the third T20I.

Star bowler Matheesha Pathirana, who suffered a grade one hamstring injury on his left leg in the last match, will miss Sri Lanka’s third Twenty20 international match against Bangladesh, which is a major blow for the sport. Before Angelo Mathews bowled the last two balls of his over, Pathirana was hobbling to complete his fourth over of the match while clutching his hamstring.

Given that the series is now tied, Sri Lanka may benefit from Matheesha Pathirana’s absence from the series’ decisive match.

Pathirana is an essential member of the Chennai Super Kings roster in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and if his ailment persists, he may miss a few of the major league’s games, which kick off on March 22.

The average recovery time from a hamstring injury is four to seven weeks, so there’s virtually no chance he’ll play in CSK’s season opener. In the opening match of the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore square off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Out to win the series are Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

In the current series, the first two Twenty20 Internationals between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were fierce contests in which each team won one match. The series final will take place on Saturday, March 9 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Both teams will be motivated to win the series with strong performances.

Bangladesh emerged victorious in their second Twenty20 international match with relative ease. Following the strong performances of Kusal and Kamindu Mendis, Sri Lanka elected to bat first and amassed 165 runs. Nevertheless, in pursuit of the objective, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s half-century enabled the hosts to tie the series and force a decider.
