Mashrafe Mortaza and 90 other people are charged with instigating violence during protests in Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s dynamics changed as a result of political upheaval. As many assassinations threw a shadow over the nation’s cricketing developments, public property was destroyed, and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina left the country. A former captain of Bangladesh, connected to the governing body in issue, was accused of instigating murders when he failed to travel to the nation during the riots.

Recently, it has been reported that Mashrafe Mortaza, a former all-rounder for Bangladesh, was also involved in inciting violence during the student protests. His father and ninety other people have been charged alongside him. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) member Sheikh Mustafa Al-Muzahidur Rahman of Narail filed the charge at the Narail Sadar police station, according to reports from bdcrimetime.com.

In 2018, Mashrafe Mortaza declared his retirement from cricket for the national team and joined PM Sheikh Hasina’s now-absconded Awami League.

Later on, he won the Narail-2 constituency in an election to become a member of parliament. Furthermore, because of this connection, on August 6, when the demonstrators’ fury peaked, his house was set on fire by them.

Bangladesh will spend a three-match Test series in India.

The former captain of Bangladesh has participated in 54 T20Is and 220 ODIs. In addition, he has captained Bangladesh in the most games—117—across all formats. Throughout his 36 Test matches, he has amassed 2,955 runs and 390 wickets.

Not to be outdone, Bangladesh made history by defeating Pakistan in a Test match, winning the two-match series in Pakistan. They go into the first Test against India, which begins in Chennai on September 19, riding a momentum of two wins.
