When Hugh Weibgen, the opposition, was granted not out after a contentious catch was called a bump ball by the on-field umpires in the seventh over of Valleys’ run chase at Allan Border Field, Labuschagne, the captain of the Redlands team, grew noticeably agitated. Replays appeared to indicate that Weibgen ought to have been fired.
Labuschagne was seen angrily arguing with the umpires in footage from the Kayo broadcast. After the subsequent delivery, the umpire and the 30-year-old continued their discussion, with the umpire telling the man to shut up and go. The two umpires met in the middle of the pitch after the over, leading pundits to speculate that they would consider citing the Test star for his actions.

Labuschagne has been punished with level 2 dissent against an official, even though it is understood that he did not use any bad language during the fight. This week’s tribunal hearing for the right-hand batter is now expected.
For their next series against England in the UK, Labuschagne is expected to go with the Australian ODI team. Curiously, the conduct commissioner does not have the power to ban him from international matches, even if he would suffer consequences at home. It follows that, barring a ruling from the tribunal, Labuschagne will probably be available for the England series.
