After the conclusion of the World Test Championship, in which Australia will face India at the Oval in London beginning on June 7, Pat Cummins’ side will face England in the eagerly anticipated Ashes series. Australia and England are scheduled to play each other in five high-octane Test matches beginning on June 16. On the field, there would be many noteworthy performances, and one of them could be the innings of star batsman Marnus Labuschagne.

Marnus Labuschagne, currently ranked as the greatest Test batsman in the world, exploded onto the scene in the 2019 Ashes, and his performance could be crucial for Australia in the 2023 Ashes. Recently, the 28-year-old commented on the lucidity of the squad selection prior to the marquee series in comparison to previous years.

Cricket Australia quoted Marnus Labuschagne as saying, “It’s just that we’re really well organized; in 2019, we weren’t as set on the team, and there were probably a lot more questions about people coming back in; that was Steve, Dave, and Cameron’s first entry back into Test cricket; there wasn’t that much stability, even with our bowlers.”

“We used three or four various bowling attacks over the course of three games, so there is a great deal more clarity surrounding our team, which I believe fosters consistency. It generates preparation as opposed to individuals playing for spots and believing they are competing for positions. Everyone is aware of their assigned seating, so we can prepare and get ready,” he added.

It is also important to note that Labuschagne’s evolution has worked marvels in Australia’s favor and that his performances have been crucial for the Pat Cummins-led side to reach the 2023 World Test Championship final.

It would be intriguing to observe how the 28-year-old and the rest of the team perform in the WTC final and the Ashes series that follows.
