"Mark Wood scored 33 runs at the end or else England wouldn't have even scored 100" : Aakash Chopra

India defeated England by the largest margin of runs in Test cricket history at Rajkot, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. In the most recent Test, the hosts completely dominated, destroying England’s batting order to win by an incredible 434 runs.

Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricket player who is now a broadcaster, blamed India’s strong bowling attack for England’s poor batting display.

In order to salvage a waning inning, Chopra emphasized Mark Wood’s late barrage.

England’s lackluster performance in the In the middle of England’s batting collapse, Rajkot Chopra emphasized Wood’s brief yet significant effort. Mark Wood’s aggressive performance, which saw him score 33 runs off of just 15 deliveries, provided some resistance during an otherwise weak inning.

This squad would not have even reached 100 runs if it weren’t for Mark Wood’s 33 runs in the last minute. 50 overs were not possible to bat. One-and-a half sessions were not played by you. Since we are paid on a daily basis, please look after us. We are only compensated on the days that we work. There was no 40-over pitch here. England truly let themselves down pretty badly, and this was a far better surface,” Chopra posted on his YouTube page.

Important batsmen like Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow were dismissed, demonstrating the severity of England’s batting problems. In addition to demonstrating their dominance, India’s resounding win also raised concerns about England’s capacity to adjust to difficult circumstances due to their lackluster performance. Due to his outstanding hundred in the first inning and fifer in the fourth, Ravindra Jadeja—who was playing on his home ground—was named Man of the Match. Yashasvi Jaiswal is now leading the series in runs scored with 545, having scored his second double-hundred of the series.

India will now go to Ranchi, where they will be keen to keep up their momentum and win the series, after their impressive performance in Rajkot.
